Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 3, 2026

BrowserTools is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how advertising works on this site.

What we do not collect

The vast majority of BrowserTools tools run entirely inside your browser. Files you open, text you paste, and values you type into converters, validators, generators, and calculators never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We have no access to that information and we do not store it.

We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information to use the tools.

Server-side tools

A small number of tools — DNS lookup, WHOIS, ping, and IP information — require a server to perform their function. When you use these tools, the domain name or IP address you query is sent to our backend to resolve the result. These requests are rate-limited and not logged in any identifiable way. We do not store your IP address alongside your queries beyond what is strictly necessary for rate limiting, and that temporary data is not shared with third parties.

Cookies and session tokens

BrowserTools uses a short-lived session token stored in your browser's memory (not a persistent cookie) to protect server-side API endpoints from abuse. This token expires after fifteen minutes and contains no personal information — it is a cryptographic nonce used solely to authenticate requests to our own backend.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any persistent cookies for profiling. The only cookies that may be set are those required by Google AdSense (see below).

Advertising — Google AdSense

This site is supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show you personalised advertisements based on your browsing activity and interests across websites. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or by using the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.

Advertisements are displayed in clearly marked areas. We do not place ads inside tool interfaces, use pop-ups, interstitials, or autoplay video advertising.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — which tools are most used, which pages are visited, and how visitors navigate the site. Analytics data is collected in aggregate and is not used to build individual user profiles. IP addresses are anonymised before being processed by Google Analytics.

Third-party links

Some tool pages may link to external resources for reference. BrowserTools is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Children's privacy

BrowserTools is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was most recently revised. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
