About QR Code Scanner
QR codes encode URLs, contact cards, Wi-Fi credentials and arbitrary text in a compact 2D barcode. Decoding one usually means launching a phone app, but modern browsers ship with the BarcodeDetector API, allowing fully local scanning from a webcam or image file.
This tool uses that native API to decode QR codes (and other 1D/2D barcodes when supported) directly in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Which browsers are supported?
Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera) on desktop and Android, plus Safari 17+ on macOS/iOS expose the BarcodeDetector API. Firefox does not, the tool will warn you.
Are images uploaded?
No. Decoding happens locally; the file or camera frames never leave your device.
Can it decode other barcodes?
When your browser supports them, yes, the tool tries QR, EAN-13, Code 128, Code 39, ITF and Data Matrix.
